NOTES AND RECIPES: THE PHOTOGRAFIC DARKROOM AS A ORGANISM

Lecture
Tuesday, 31 October, 2023 - 17:00

Performative lecture by resident Michaela Davidová

Artist Michaela Davidova is inviting you to join the experimental reading using the snippets from the library which gives an inspiration to her work. Included there will be the practical examples from her practice which explore bodies, ecology of process, living-non-living light-sensitive materials which expand beyond the borders of the darkroom. Deconstructed borders between a human and materials (mainly those which have passed the use/consumption/extraction) and the attunement to their active agency through the transcorporeality has its origin in thoughts of authors such as Astrida Neimanis, Staicy Alaimo, Jane Bennett or Anna Lowenhaupt Tsing. In her practise, Michaela navigates through the material decomposition and works with DIY-DIT methods across principles of sustainability which however do not wish to purify process and thinking but find the symbiotic partnership.

The texts will be in both English and Czech with practical demonstrations.
